ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for its alleged inaction against terrorism, accusing it of facilitating terrorist activities for political and financial gains. Speaking alongside Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Tarar emphasized the federal government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar accused the PTI leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of acting as a secondary support for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claiming the provincial government has not only failed to take effective measures against terrorism but has also allowed non-customs-paid vehicles to be used in terrorist activities by keeping them outside the legal framework.

Tarar demanded transparency in how the provincial government has utilized resources allocated for counter-terrorism. He also criticized the PTI’s track record in the region, noting that despite over twelve years in power, residents still seek medical care in other provinces.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry added that Afghan nationals have been involved in terrorist acts within Pakistan, a situation he claims PTI fails to address with Afghanistan. Chaudhry also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not providing adequate resources or authority to the police to combat terrorism, citing the KP Police Act of 2026 as a legislative move to further limit police powers.
