Karachi: Chairman Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasized the critical need for investment in the education and empowerment of girls, stating that Pakistan’s advancement hinges on providing equal opportunities for them to shape their futures.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani, speaking at the inauguration of a new orphanage established by the Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, highlighted the potential for girls to excel in diverse fields such as medicine, engineering, teaching, science, law, and business. He underscored the importance of offering every girl equal opportunities to progress, asserting that the education and dignified inclusion of girls are crucial for the country’s development.
Gillani described the newly constructed Al-Mustafa My Home as more than just a building, but as a beacon of hope, protection, and education for a better future. He advocated for a shift from mere sympathy for orphaned girls to providing them with trust, attention, and opportunities for independence. He called for an approach that not only ensures their safety but also empowers them to become strong and self-reliant.
The Senate chairman urged the institution’s management to focus on delivering quality education, modern facilities, healthcare, and moral development, along with accommodation and basic necessities. He highlighted Islam’s emphasis on the care and rights of orphans, noting that providing education and opportunities for a dignified life is both a religious and social obligation.
Gillani reiterated that educating a girl extends beyond the individual, impacting future families and generations. He expressed hope that the institution would set a benchmark in Karachi and across Pakistan, offering orphaned girls love, respect, and education to build independent lives. He extended congratulations to Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Patron-in-Chief of the Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, and Dr. Abdul Rahim for the project’s completion, and acknowledged the contributions of individuals and volunteers dedicated to humanitarian efforts.
