Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab presented the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) budget for the financial year 2026-27 during a City Council session. The budget, totaling Rs. 60,451.430 million, was approved by a majority vote. It projects a surplus of Rs. 44.905 million, with estimated receipts and expenditures aligned closely.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the budget allocates Rs. 9,000 million for the District Annual Development Programme (ADP), with significant funds earmarked for infrastructure, medical services, and municipal operations. A substantial portion is dedicated to employee welfare, urban development, and historic site restoration. The budget also emphasizes transitioning to digital payment systems and enhancing municipal services with new equipment and facilities. Moreover, efforts to beautify Karachi, improve recreational spaces, and provide medical insurance to employees are highlighted as key initiatives.
