Karachi: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has achieved its highest annual cargo handling volume in its 138-year history, marking a significant milestone in the port’s operations, according to a recent announcement by Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Minister for Maritime Affairs. The record, surpassing the previous all-time high of 54.685 million tonnes, underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to modernizing national ports.
According to Radio Pakistan: The Minister attributed this achievement to improvements in operational efficiency, management practices, and port capacity. He emphasized that this milestone is part of a broader governmental strategy to modernize all national ports, attract investment, and bolster trade activities in support of economic growth.
