Sindh Food Authority and KASAN Join Forces to Promote Food Safety and Hygiene in Karachi

Karachi, The Sindh Food Authority, led by Director General Agha Fakhar Hussain, has collaborated with the Karachi Association of Sweets and Namkeen (KASAN) to launch an awareness program focused on food safety and hygiene. The initiative, supported by KASAN President Sheikh Muhammad Tehseen, aims to enhance the quality of food supply across the province by educating both consumers and food handlers on the principles of hygiene and safe food practices.

According to Sindh Food Authority, the program saw participation from various stakeholders including Kasan Vice President Saqib Ahmed, General Secretary Gulzar Ahmed, Joint Secretary Abdul Bari, Jamia Al Rasheed Mufti Talha Siddique, Dr. Ghafran Saeed from Karachi University’s Department of Food Science, Consumer Association of Pakistan Chairman Kokab Iqbal, and Consumer Protection Council Chairman Shakeel Baig. This diverse assembly of participants underscores the comprehensive approach being taken to address food safety and hygiene issues.

Director General Hussain highlighted the Hygiene Ambassadors program, a key component of the initiative, which enlists influential figures from different sectors to spread awareness about nutrition, food safety, and healthy eating habits across Sindh. The program has reportedly shown excellent results, reflecting a positive step towards improving public health standards.

The effort to combine regulatory inspections with educational activities aims to ensure that food businesses not only comply with hygiene standards but also understand and implement food safety SOPs. KASAN President Sheikh Muhammad Tehseen lauded the Sindh Food Authority’s efforts in organizing the informative program and expressed commitment to disseminating this knowledge among association members, thereby ensuring that consumers have access to quality products.

The Sindh Food Authority expressed gratitude to KASAN’s management committee and all attendees for their active participation in the program, marking an important stride towards enhancing food safety and hygiene in Karachi and beyond.
