ISLAMABAD: The Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has expressed her appreciation for the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) initiatives in enhancing disaster preparedness and response through modern technology. Her remarks were made during a visit to the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the NDMA Headquarters.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Federal Minister received a detailed briefing on NEOC’s operations and the NDMA’s development of next-generation technology-enabled disaster preparedness and response mechanisms. The briefing highlighted the authority’s advancements, including AI-IoT systems for real-time monitoring, AI-based disaster solutions, and Internet Protocol-based Disaster Early Warning TV systems for risk communication.

During her visit, Shaza Fatima Khawaja also explored various facilities, including the Mobile NEOC, Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure Model, and proposed humanitarian hub, where she was informed about their operational capabilities and technology-enabled emergency response measures. She reaffirmed the collaboration between the NDMA and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to advance technology-enabled disaster risk management and enhance the country’s resilience.

The visit commenced with a welcome by Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of NDMA, and senior officials, who greeted the Federal Minister upon her arrival at the NDMA Headquarters.
