KARACHI: A high-level delegation from the Pakistan-Romania Business Council (PRBC), accompanied by the Honorary Consul General Designate of Romania in Sindh and the Honorary Consul General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, held discussions with Mr. Javed Alam Odho, Inspector General of Police, Sindh, at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The meeting focused on the role of modern policing in fostering bilateral trade and boosting investor confidence in Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Romania Business Council, the delegation included H.E. Mr. Asad Ur Rehman Khan, Honorary Consul General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in Pakistan; H.E. Mr. Atif Farooqi, Honorary Consul General Designate of Romania in Sindh and Advisor, Pakistan-Romania Business Council; and Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman, Pakistan-Romania Business Council. The delegates highlighted the need for Pakistan to counter negative international media portrayals affecting trade and investment.
Mr. Atif Farooqi emphasized the importance of law enforcement agencies participating in trade promotion and sharing accurate security information with potential investors. Mr. Asad Ur Rehman Khan pointed to Sindh Police’s modernisation efforts, such as the Safe City initiative and digital forensics, as crucial steps for attracting foreign investors.
Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Mr. Javed Alam Odho, reiterated the police force’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for business activities, citing recent improvements in law and order due to technology-driven reforms.
DIG Headquarters, Mr. Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh, stressed the importance of continued dialogue between law enforcement and business leaders to promote trade. IG Sindh praised Mr. Atif Farooqi’s long-standing contributions to enhancing trade relations between Pakistan and Romania.
Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo stated that PRBC remains dedicated to facilitating trade, investment, and cooperation between Pakistan and Romania, underscoring the transformative impact of transparent security updates on international perceptions. Both parties agreed on the necessity of regular interactions to strengthen investor confidence and advance Pakistan’s economic goals.
