Radio Pakistan’s Anniversary to be Observed on Friday


Islamabad: The anniversary of Radio Pakistan, the national broadcaster which came into existence alongside the creation of Pakistan, will be observed on Friday. Radio Pakistan, initially known as the Pakistan Broadcasting Service, was established at midnight between August 13 and August 14, 1947, marking the simultaneous birth of the nation.



According to Radio Pakistan, the first linking announcement in English regarding the formation of Pakistan was delivered by Zahur Azar just moments before midnight. Mustafa Ali Hamdani followed with the first Urdu announcement at the stroke of midnight. The service, originally named Pakistan Broadcasting Service, was later rebranded as Radio Pakistan. On December 20, 1972, it was transformed into the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation through an act of Parliament.



Since its inception, Radio Pakistan has played a role in informing, educating, and entertaining millions of listeners through an expansive network across the country and on social media platforms.
