Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has introduced comprehensive guidelines for patrons of restaurants, hotels, and coffee shops in Punjab, aiming to enhance transparency in tax payments and facilitate the acquisition of digital receipts. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the guidelines prohibit the issuance of kitchen orders, unpaid bills, pre-bills, or temporary bills to customers. Establishments are required to prominently display these guidelines on their premises.
PRA representatives encourage patrons to request digital receipts following service payment and to verify that the business name, address, and Punjab Taxpayer Registration Number (PNTN) are correctly listed on the receipt. Essential details such as order specifics, applicable tax rate, pre-tax amount, total amount, PRA invoice number, and PRA QR code must be included on the digital receipt. Customers are urged to use the QR code to verify transaction details.
Additionally, the PRA advises reporting instances where businesses refuse digital or card payments. Complaints can be registered through PRA’s social media channels, the PRA Sahulat app, or WhatsApp at 0343-0000772. The emphasis on digital receipts is part of efforts to ensure transparency in tax payments, with a call for citizens to safeguard the taxes contributing to Punjab’s development and prosperity.
