Lahore: The inaugural meeting of the Cabinet Committee on the Asset Management Authority Punjab (AMAP) was convened under the leadership of Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman. The session, attended by several provincial ministers and senior officials, focused on reviewing government assets and the mechanisms for their transfer to AMAP.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Finance Minister emphasized that the management of Punjab’s government assets is a public trust, necessitating their effective and transparent utilization. The establishment of AMAP aims to integrate provincial assets into a structured management system to enhance their economic potential and public utility.
Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman noted that the management of these assets should prioritize safeguarding their value and public interest over revenue generation. He highlighted the importance of assessing each asset individually, considering factors such as legal status and economic potential, before deciding on their utilization.
The Finance Minister outlined the broader reform agenda of the Government of Punjab, which includes promoting effective use of public resources, fiscal discipline, and transparent governance. He stated that AMAP would develop a system for improved recording, monitoring, and decision-making regarding provincial assets, emphasizing adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
