Punjab Police Maintain High Alert for Church Services in Lahore


LAHORE: Punjab Police officers and personnel maintained heightened security during Christian prayer services at churches across the province, including in Lahore, ensuring a vigilant presence to safeguard the community.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem issued directives to regional and district police officers, as well as senior police officials, to bolster security at churches. He instructed supervisory officers to personally review the security measures at churches and other sensitive sites. Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite Force conducted regular patrols around these areas. IG Punjab emphasized the importance of constant vigilance and keeping a close watch on potential threats. He also directed ongoing search and sweep operations around churches, Christian neighborhoods, and other vulnerable locations.



Abdul Kareem also encouraged religious scholars, the Christian community, and members of Peace Committees to foster interfaith harmony, highlighting the role of community cooperation in maintaining peace and security.
