Punjab Housing Program Gains Momentum with 89,000 Applications


Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab’s Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat Programme has received over 89,000 applications, highlighting its increasing popularity. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, a meeting of the PHATA Governing Body, chaired by Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin, reviewed the annual performance and discussed the budget for the first time.



The Governing Body expressed satisfaction with PHATA’s performance and the success of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme. The meeting also included a briefing on the provision of free plots under the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar Programme. An expansion of the Affordable Housing Programme on PHATA land was approved, with assurances of effective implementation of PHATA laws in affordable housing schemes.



Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin noted the significant number of applications for the Chief Minister Punjab’s interest-free loan schemes as a reflection of public confidence. He also highlighted concerns over environmental risks due to housing schemes on green areas. Yasin directed that enforcement actions against illegal housing schemes be increased and emphasized the importance of facilitating compliant developers. He warned that those deceiving citizens would face legal consequences.
