Prime Minister Sharif to Visit Azerbaijan for Bilateral Talks


Baku: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a two-day state visit to Azerbaijan, beginning Monday, at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev. The visit aims to enhance bilateral ties with discussions expected in key areas such as energy, trade, and defense.



According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this marks Sharif’s second visit to Azerbaijan since assuming office in March 2024. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Azerbaijan.



The visit will feature extensive talks between the two nations, focusing on mutual interests to bolster cooperation across various sectors. Anticipated outcomes include the signing of several memorandums of understanding and agreements.



An important element of the visit is Prime Minister Sharif’s keynote address at a Business Forum, organized in collaboration with Azerbaijan’s Export and Investment Promotion Agency, aiming to boost economic collaboration.



Additionally, the itinerary includes a visit to Fuzuli, Karabagh, alongside President Aliyev, as part of a tour of the liberated territories of Karabakh, highlighting the countries’ diplomatic engagement.



This visit underscores Pakistan’s intent to deepen its partnership with Azerbaijan, fostering economic collaboration and exploring new opportunities for joint development.
