ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has called for sustained support from the United Kingdom for initiatives focused on exports, climate resilience, human development, and civil service reforms. This request was made during a meeting with Sam Waldock, the Development Director at the British High Commission, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions centered on Pakistan’s development priorities, institutional reforms, and avenues for bilateral cooperation. Minister Iqbal emphasized the importance of strengthening local governance and advocated for a greater transfer of resources and powers to district levels, in line with the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
Sam Waldock, representing the UK, reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development agenda. He highlighted the UK’s focus on climate resilience, disaster preparedness, and adaptation, and expressed a willingness to continue collaborative efforts in these areas.
