Karachi: The Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms is implementing a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and performance of ports in Pakistan. These measures include the introduction of modern facilities and administrative reforms to boost trade activities, alongside plans to establish a specialized training institute for workforce development in the port sector.

According to Radio Pakistan, the task force’s strategy involves the deployment of modern equipment, CCTV surveillance, and enhanced security measures to streamline and increase transparency in the cargo inspection process. Additionally, efforts are being made to address operational challenges by utilizing modern portable weighing scales and ensuring their regular calibration, as well as expanding high-value cargo areas.

The reforms also focus on improving cargo handling capabilities through the provision of additional facilities and improved administrative scheduling. These comprehensive changes are part of the task force’s broader agenda to optimize port operations and support economic growth through increased trade efficiency.
