Islamabad: Pakistan’s debt growth has decreased to its lowest level in two decades, with the external debt ratio reaching a nine-year low, according to Khurram Schehzad, an advisor to the Finance Minister. The public debt growth was recorded at 7.7% for the current financial year, a significant reduction from the 20-year average of approximately 16% and a peak of 31% in the financial year 2019.
According to Radio Pakistan, Schehzad shared this information in a post on his official X handle, highlighting the country’s improved debt metrics. The decline in debt growth indicates a positive shift in Pakistan’s financial management, aligning with broader efforts to stabilize the economy.
