Pakistan Seeks Collaboration with NASA to Advance Space Vision


Houston: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, engaged in crucial discussions with NASA officials and representatives from the US aerospace sector in Houston. The meetings centered on enhancing Pakistan’s space vision and fostering opportunities for its youth in science and technology.



According to Press Information Department, the Government of Pakistan is developing a national space education programme to encourage scientific research and innovation among the country’s youth. Part of this initiative is the proposed Space Exploration Centre in Narowal, intended to inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers by introducing them to space science.



Professor Iqbal emphasized that the Space Learning Centre would be a significant national initiative promoting knowledge and innovation, aiming to prepare young Pakistanis for roles in the global space industry. He invited US aerospace firms to establish development centers in Pakistan, highlighting the potential of collaboration with NASA to enhance Pakistan’s space capabilities.



Pakistan plans to launch a national mission to the Moon by 2035, with a sustained lunar presence by 2047, as part of a strategy to foster a knowledge-based economy. Professor Iqbal underscored the importance of Pakistan-US relations evolving towards geo-economics and science and technology partnerships, moving beyond geopolitical ties.



The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to equipping young Pakistanis with modern skills and knowledge, aiming to position Pakistan as a regional hub for scientific and technological advancement.
