Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Humanitarian Values on World Humanitarian Day


Islamabad: On World Humanitarian Day, Pakistan reiterated its dedication to humanitarian service and solidarity with the global community. In a message commemorating the occasion, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the nation’s commitment to human dignity and the welfare of humanity, highlighting Pakistan’s significant contributions to international humanitarian efforts.



According to Press Information Department, the observance of World Humanitarian Day honors the memory of 22 humanitarian workers who perished in the 2003 bombing of the United Nations compound in Baghdad. The day is a tribute to the sacrifices and courage of humanitarian workers in crisis-affected areas. Pakistan’s history of solidarity with the international community was underscored, including its long-standing support for Afghan refugees and participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.



Domestically, Pakistan continues to prioritize the protection of vulnerable and marginalized groups, striving for an inclusive society that offers equal opportunities. The Ministry of Human Rights has been active in translating policy into action through welfare centers and training facilities, with a focus on social inclusion for special persons and promoting women’s participation in society.



The government’s commitment to human rights, social justice, and welfare is reflected in its efforts at the grassroots level, aiming to empower young people and protect children.
