ISLAMABAD: The government has launched a fixed-tax scheme aimed at simplifying the tax process for small shopkeepers and retailers, a move that has been anticipated by traders for some time. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, alongside Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, unveiled the Retailer Scheme app at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad, designed to facilitate registration under the new Fixed Tax Scheme.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister emphasized that the initiative was developed in consultation with stakeholders to address the longstanding demands of small shopkeepers. He assured participants that the scheme would operate without causing any issues or harassment for those who enroll. Aurangzeb expressed confidence that retailers would benefit from this facility, which marks a step toward integrating all societal segments into the national tax framework.

Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted the app’s main features, noting that it enables easy registration and tax return filing for retailers with an annual turnover of up to two hundred million rupees. Retailers can access the Asaan Tajir app via the Google Play Store, which currently supports the Urdu language, with plans to expand to other regional languages. Additionally, the Finance Minister addressed inquiries regarding efforts to simplify tax returns for salaried individuals, indicating ongoing measures to streamline these processes.
