Pakistan Observes 8th Martyrdom Anniversary of First Female Fighter Pilot, Marium Mukhtiar

Islamabad, The 8th martyrdom anniversary of Pakistan’s first female fighter pilot, Marium Mukhtiar, is being commemorated today. Marium Mukhtiar, born on 18th May 1992 in Karachi, made significant contributions to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) before her untimely death in 2015.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Marium Mukhtiar joined the Pakistan Air Force in 2011 and completed her graduation in 2014. She met with a tragic accident on 24th November 2015 while on a routine training flight with her instructor Saqib Abbasi. The jet they were flying developed a fault and crashed in the Kundian area near Mianwali.

In recognition of her bravery and service, the Government of Pakistan posthumously honored Marium Mukhtiar with the Tamgha-e-Basalat on 23rd March 2016. Her legacy continues to inspire many in Pakistan, particularly women aspiring to serve in the defense sector.
