Pakistan Independence Day Celebrated in Tehran


Tehran: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House in Tehran to mark the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan. The event was attended by members of the Pakistani diaspora in Tehran.



According to Press Information Department, the flag of Pakistan was raised to the tune of the national anthem. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Ambassador of Pakistan to Iran, read messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. In his address, Ambassador Siddiqui congratulated the Pakistani community and thanked them for their contributions to Iran’s socio-economic sectors and the promotion of bilateral relations. He highlighted the commitment of both governments to enhance trade to 10 billion dollars, recognizing the Pakistani community as key stakeholders.



Children from the Pakistan Embassy International School and College in Tehran performed a national song, and a collective prayer was held for those who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s independence. The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting to celebrate the occasion.
