Islamabad, The Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Prof Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to advanced disaster preparedness during his visit to the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC). The state-of-the-art facility, staffed by skilled professionals, leverages modern technology to fortify Pakistan’s response to natural disasters.
According to Press Information Department, the NEOC’s role in utilizing data and satellite-based mapping to anticipate weather changes, heat waves, climate disasters, and glacial meltdowns was a key focus of the briefing received by Minister Iqbal. Officials outlined the centre’s capacity for predictive modeling and disaster management, highlighting a proactive strategy that incorporates high-tech early warning systems and anticipatory actions to mitigate future crises.
Minister Iqbal was introduced to the NDMA’s latest initiative, a mobile application designed to provide early warnings about potential disasters, enhancing the country’s preparedness and response mechanisms.
