New York: Pakistan has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take decisive measures against what it describes as Israeli military aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.
During a Security Council briefing focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, condemned Israel’s latest military actions, which include renewed bombardments in Gaza and a blockade restricting humanitarian aid.
Akram highlighted the expansion of Israel’s military operations, which he described as involving daily military raids, settler violence, and illegal land annexations. He characterized these actions as part of a broader strategy to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from the West Bank.
He emphasized the need for a credible political process aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state. According to Akram, this state should be based on pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem, referred to as Al-Quds, as its capital.
The call for action from Pakistan underscores the ongoing tensions and complex geopolitical issues surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
