ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has extended felicitations to the nation on Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, highlighting the sacrifices made by the Muslims of the subcontinent and the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in securing an independent homeland. He underscored the importance of safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and democracy as a shared national duty.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the Chairman remarked that August 14 serves as a reminder of the blessing of freedom and the sacrifices of forefathers. He emphasized the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, advocating for unity, faith, and discipline to guide the nation forward. Gilani called for national unity, political stability, constitutional supremacy, rule of law, and mutual respect.
Gilani also highlighted the crucial role of the youth in Pakistan’s future, advocating for quality education, skills development, and employment opportunities to enable their contribution to national development. He paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces and security institutions for their role in defending the nation and maintaining peace.
The Chairman vowed that Parliament would continue to strengthen democracy, uphold the Constitution, and protect the rights of the people. He urged the nation to set aside differences, prioritize national interest, and renew its commitment to building a strong, peaceful, and prosperous Pakistan, in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.
In his message, Gilani prayed for the security, stability, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan and the continued unity and strength of its people.
