President and Prime Minister Reaffirm Commitment to Energy Conservation

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated their commitment to energy conservation, environmental sustainability, and climate action, aligning with global efforts in these areas.

In a joint message marking Earth Hour and World Water Day 2025, President Zardari emphasized the symbolic act of switching off non-essential lights as a testament to reducing energy consumption and protecting Pakistan’s ecosystems. He urged the nation to focus on building climate-resilient infrastructure, preventing water pollution, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the government’s active pursuit of policies integrating climate action across various sectors, with initiatives for renewable energy expansion, plastic waste reduction, and green job creation. He stressed that policy initiatives need to be complemented by individual actions to foster true change.

Both leaders called on citizens to adopt sustainable habits and take responsibility for a greener Pakistan. Earth Hour, observed globally, encourages millions to turn off lights for one hour at 8:30 pm local time, demonstrating collective concern for the planet’s future.
