Pakistan and UK Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Economic Ties


Islamabad, In a series of pivotal meetings held in London, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, engaged with key UK officials, discussing a broad spectrum of issues aimed at enhancing the relationship between the two nations. The discussions with UK Minister of State for South Asia and Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Ahmad, and Minister of State for Development, Andrew Mitchell, focused on bilateral relations, security concerns, economic cooperation, and mutual interests in regional and global platforms.



According to Press Information Department, the meetings highlighted the strong historical ties and shared goals between Pakistan and the UK. Lord Ahmad acknowledged Foreign Minister Dar’s new role and expressed enthusiasm for continued collaboration with Pakistan’s government. The dialogues explored avenues to deepen connections, particularly emphasizing the potential of the British Pakistani diaspora in fostering trade and investment.



A significant topic of discussion was the resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the UK, with both sides expressing commitment to overcoming technical obstacles promptly. The UK representatives conveyed their dedication to facilitating this process, acknowledging the mutual benefits of enhanced air connectivity.



The talks also covered Afghanistan’s situation, where the UK thanked Pakistan for its assistance with Afghan resettlement issues. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Dar conveyed his good wishes for the health of King Charles III and the Princess of Wales and extended invitations to UK dignitaries to visit Pakistan, which were warmly received.



These meetings signify a mutual intent to strengthen Pakistan-UK relations across various sectors, reflecting a shared vision for prosperity and cooperation.
