New Training Institute Opens in Chagai with Barrick Gold and Hunar Foundation Support

Chagai, A new training institute, supported by Barrick Gold and the Hunar Foundation, has commenced operations in Chagai, aiming to empower local youth through skill development. This initiative seeks to provide vocational training to the youth, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute to their community’s economic development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the institute’s primary goal is to offer skill-based education to the region’s youth, equipping them with the necessary tools to secure employment or start their own businesses. The collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has facilitated the launch of the first training batch, focusing on a diverse set of skills over a four-month period. Notably, the inclusion of thirty-four female students in the inaugural phase marks a significant step towards gender inclusivity in vocational training.

The initiative reflects a broader commitment to enhancing the economic prospects of Chagai’s youth, with plans to expand the program in July to accommodate up to three hundred students. The partnership between Barrick Gold, the Hunar Foundation, and SIFC underscores the importance of public and private sector collaboration in fostering sustainable community development through education and skill enhancement.
