Islamabad: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has dismissed recent claims by the Afghan Taliban as misleading and fabricated, as tensions continue to simmer in the region. The ministry criticized the statements made by a Taliban spokesperson regarding the alleged presence of the Pakistan Army during armed clashes in Badakhshan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Fact Check refuted the assertions made by Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban regime, during an interview with Afghan media outlet Aamaj News. The Taliban spokesperson’s claim that the Pakistan Army was involved in the clashes was labeled as false and baseless by the ministry.

Contrary to these allegations, independent reports indicate that the violence in Badakhshan stems from internal strife within Afghanistan, highlighting the challenges faced by the Afghan Taliban’s administration. The ongoing conflict has been attributed to internal security and administrative issues rather than external interference.

The ministry emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering peace and stability in Afghanistan, reiterating that it has no interest in destabilizing its neighbor. It urged the Taliban regime to concentrate on addressing the internal problems plaguing Afghanistan, which stem from its governance failures.

The ministry’s statement suggested that the Afghan Taliban’s anti-Pakistan rhetoric is an attempt to deflect from its waning influence and the increasing resistance it faces within Afghanistan. These accusations, the ministry argued, are part of a broader strategy to frame the internal conflicts as having an external dimension, rather than addressing the root causes of the unrest.
