Islamabad: An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the OIC Arbitration Centre and the International Mediation and Arbitration Centre to enhance dispute resolution through mediation and conciliation within Pakistan’s justice system.

According to Radio Pakistan, the MoU was signed in Islamabad during the closing ceremony of a five-day training program focused on Civil, Commercial, and Shariah-Integrated Mediation. Present at the event were Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Law and Justice, and Dr. Umar A. Oseni, Secretary General of the OIC Arbitration Centre.

The agreement aims to establish long-term cooperation in mediation, arbitration, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and dispute prevention. It also seeks to promote the exchange of knowledge, information, publications, and professional expertise between the two institutions.

Minister Tarar emphasized the importance of such international partnerships in strengthening global linkages in mediation and ADR. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing partnerships with international allies, noting that these collaborations would enhance the mediation framework in Pakistan and create new opportunities for global cooperation.

The Minister highlighted that the scope of mediation and conciliation in Pakistan is being broadened, and international cooperation in this field would be further reinforced.
