Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the need for a detailed and collaborative roadmap to enhance road and rail connections between Pakistan, Central Asian states, and Europe. The strategy session held in Islamabad today aimed to bolster Pakistan’s role as a central hub in regional trade and connectivity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting saw detailed presentations from officials of the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Communications, outlining their strategic plans for improving logistical corridors. Minister Iqbal highlighted Pakistan’s pivotal geographical position, advocating for a multi-model and transparent strategy to exploit this advantage fully.
The minister instructed the involved ministries to refine their plans, ensuring the elimination of any gaps in the proposed connectivity routes. He underscored the importance of making these plans viable and well-prepared, with an emphasis on efficient and reliable trade corridors that leverage Pakistan’s strategic location.
The session was well-attended by key stakeholders, including the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, members of the Planning Commission, and senior officials from the Ministries of Communications and Railways, all focused on advancing these crucial connectivity projects.
