Islamabad: The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations, hosted a significant event marking the 5th Anniversary of “Youm-e-Istehsal” Kashmir. The gathering aimed to renew global attention on the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and advocate for the oppressed Kashmiri population’s right to self-determination.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event featured poignant discussions led by Consul General Aamer Atozai and Ambassador Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations. Ambassador Akram’s keynote address underscored the severe human rights violations occurring in IIOJK and implored the international community to intervene decisively.
The event also saw contributions from various influential figures, including Senator Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum and Ambassador Hameed Opeloyeru, Permanent Observer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Speakers detailed the impact of India’s unilateral actions in Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as contraventions of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
A photo exhibition was also part of the event, presenting stark images of the hardships faced by the Kashmiri people under Indian administration, intended to bring further international scrutiny to their plight.
