Elections (Second Amendment) Bill to Clarify Reserved Seats, Says Bilal Azhar Kayani


Islamabad: The recently passed Elections (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024, is set to resolve existing uncertainties surrounding reserved seats in the legislature, Convener of the National Parliamentary Taskforce on Sustainable Development Goals. This clarification was made outside the National Assembly today, where Kayani also commented on the broader implications of the bill for political representation in Pakistan.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Kayani detailed the significance of the bill, which was approved by the National Assembly and is anticipated to pass in the Senate shortly. The legislation aims to enhance transparency and fairness in the allocation of reserved seats, ensuring more precise governance structures. He also noted the non-partisan benefit of the bill, suggesting that it supports not just the government but all political forces by clarifying legal ambiguities.



Kayani expressed gratitude towards the lawmakers for their support of the bill and optimism for its swift enactment into law following Senate approval.
