Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party’s local government leadership is advancing Karachi’s development agenda through significant infrastructure projects under the leadership of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Multi-billion-rupee initiatives are underway to modernize the city’s infrastructure and address traffic challenges, reflecting the party’s commitment to providing improved municipal facilities to residents.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, spokesperson Karamullah Waqasi stated that comprehensive planning is in place to improve Karachi’s civic infrastructure. A key project involves the rehabilitation of 139 major roads across the city, with the list of roads in District East and various Town Municipal Corporations already released. This Rs14 billion mega project aims to transform Karachi into a globally competitive city through sustainable development and effective governance.

The project includes the rehabilitation of significant roads such as Sir Syed Road, Kashmir Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal, among others. The tendering process is completed, with work set to begin following legal and technical requirements. Plans also include additional flyovers to enhance traffic management, and the installation of street lighting on 41 roads to improve safety. The local government emphasizes transparency and efficient use of public funds, supervised by Mayor Wahab, with the expectation of transformative outcomes within a year.
