Majority of Pakistanis Anticipate Increase in Women’s Use of Bikes and Scooties, Survey Finds

Islamabad: A recent survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan reveals that 76% of Pakistanis anticipate an increase in the use of bikes and scooties by women over the next five years. The survey highlights a significant disparity between urban and rural expectations, with 88% of urban respondents expecting an increase compared to 70% in rural areas.

According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, a nationally representative sample was queried about their expectations regarding the trend of Pakistani women riding bikes or scooties. Among those surveyed, 54% anticipate a significant increase, and 22% foresee a moderate rise in this trend. Conversely, a minority of respondents, 4%, expect a slight decrease, and 3% predict a substantial decline, while 10% foresee no change and 8% remain uncertain.

The survey results indicate a strong expectation for growth in women’s use of bikes and scooties, with urban areas showing more pronounced optimism. The study, carried out among 811 participants from both urban and rural regions across Pakistan’s four provinces, was conducted from March 18 to March 31, 2026. The survey employed telephonic interviews and boasts an error margin of ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level. The findings were released by the Gilani Research Foundation, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
