Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi inaugurated the “Beyond the Syllabus” lecture series at the National Library of Pakistan, aimed at supporting students preparing for the Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations.
According to Press Information Department, Federal Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Asad Rahman Gillani delivered the inaugural lecture titled “Knowing Pakistan: Culture, Society and the Making of an Effective Civil Servant.” The lecture provided students with insights into Pakistan’s cultural and social landscape, the evolution of civil services, and the qualities required to become effective public servants.
Federal Minister Khichi highlighted the initiative as a practical effort to provide CSS aspirants with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and senior officials from various fields, enhancing their academic preparation with practical knowledge and professional perspectives. He noted that the National Library already supports students by offering access to a wide range of physical books and digital resources, creating a conducive academic environment for competitive examination preparation.
Secretary Gillani emphasized critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making based on reason as essential qualities for civil servants. He encouraged students to focus on continuous learning, self-improvement, and professional integrity, advising them not to view civil service merely as an achievement but as a commitment to public service and national development.
The lecture series, part of the National Heritage and Culture Division’s initiative, aims to provide students with access to knowledge, practical experiences, and expert guidance, supplementing the academic resources available at the National Library of Pakistan.
