KARACHI: A new survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan reveals that 73% of Pakistani parents with school-going children would utilize public transport services if provided by schools or the government. This indicates a significant demand for organized school transport services.

According to Gilani Research Foundation, the survey, part of Gallup Pakistan’s series on ‘Understanding the School Landscape in Pakistan’, found that the willingness to use public transport is slightly higher among parents with less than an FA education, with 74% expressing readiness. The survey canvassed a nationally representative sample of 1,415 married individuals from urban and rural areas across Pakistan’s four provinces between March 18 and March 31, 2026. The findings are statistically significant with an error margin of ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level.

The research highlights that nearly three in four parents are interested in school- or government-provided transport solutions, suggesting that such services could offer families a reliable means for their children to commute to school. The survey utilized computer-assisted telephonic interviews (CATI) to gather data, underscoring the potential for public transport initiatives to support educational access in Pakistan.
