Islamabad Police Arrests 111 in “Weapon-Free City” Campaign


Islamabad: The Islamabad Police’s ongoing “Weapon-Free City” campaign has led to the arrest of 111 individuals in the past 10 days for illegal weapons possession, according to a press release from Islamabad Capital Police. The campaign, initiated under the directives of Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aims to curb illegal arms in the federal capital.



According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operations resulted in the seizure of 11 Kalashnikovs and rifles, 93 pistols of various calibers, six daggers, and a substantial amount of ammunition. Legal cases have been filed against the accused, with further investigations currently underway.



SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, emphasized the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal weapons, assuring that targeted operations would persist without discrimination. He also advised citizens with licensed weapons to ensure they are registered with local police stations.



Raza reiterated that safeguarding citizens’ lives and properties is a primary responsibility for the police, and efforts to remove illegal weapons are part of broader priorities for ensuring a peaceful environment in Islamabad. He urged public cooperation in reporting any suspicious activities or individuals to support the initiative.
