Islamabad Police Arrest Over 10,286 Criminals in First Five Months of 2026


Islamabad: The Islamabad Police have announced the arrest of more than 10,286 individuals involved in various crimes during the first five months of 2026, marking a significant operation against criminal activities in the city. The crackdown has resulted in the recovery of stolen property valued at over PKR 633 million, with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi overseeing the operations.



According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests include 588 members of 255 gangs responsible for robbery, armed robbery, and vehicle and motorcycle thefts, leading to the recovery of 93 vehicles and 308 motorcycles. The police have also made strides in resolving blind murder cases, successfully tracing six cases and arresting 11 suspects. In addition, 2,121 proclaimed offenders and previously convicted criminals were apprehended, and 62 individuals involved in aerial firing were taken into custody.



The police’s efforts extend to curbing illegal weapons and drugs. Under the “Weapon-Free Islamabad” initiative, 945 suspects were arrested, leading to the confiscation of various firearms and ammunition. Meanwhile, the “Nasha Ab Nahin” anti-drug campaign resulted in the arrest of 749 drug dealers and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics.



To strengthen community engagement, more than 750 public meetings, known as Khuli Kachehris, were held to address citizen concerns. Concurrently, campaigns against professional begging led to over 2,100 arrests. The year 2026 also saw over 899 search and combing operations to uphold law and order in the city.



Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property, noting that impartial actions against crime will persist.
