LAHORE: Punjab has emerged as the first province in Pakistan to launch an Artificial Intelligence Intelligence Hub, announced Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The facility was inaugurated at the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) office, with the chief minister conducting an e-launch and receiving a comprehensive briefing on the project.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the AI Intelligence Hub was developed with the collaboration of the Pakistan Army and other security institutions. Chief Minister Sharif expressed gratitude to Lahore Corps Commander Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah for the Army’s cooperation and commended officials for establishing the hub swiftly. She highlighted the unified efforts of security institutions in maintaining law and order and emphasized the province’s improved capability to handle emergencies.

The AI Intelligence Hub is expected to enhance security by providing digital alerts to district coordination committees. Sharif noted significant improvements in the security situation, with a marked decline in crime rates across the province. She also discussed the government’s efforts in various areas such as enforcing traffic laws, conducting anti-encroachment drives, and addressing issues related to public safety.

In addition, the chief minister mentioned ongoing initiatives against corruption, stating that the government remains committed to addressing corrupt practices. A helpline has been established for citizens to report corruption, and body cameras have been distributed to police personnel for monitoring purposes.

Sharif expressed optimism that the AI Intelligence Hub would significantly enhance Punjab’s ability to preempt and counteract potential security threats, contributing to the overall safety and progress of the province.
