Iranian Foreign Minister Acknowledges Pakistan’s Mediation Efforts in Regional Matters

Islamabad: The Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive mediation efforts in a recent conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar. The dialogue underscored the ongoing diplomatic engagements between Iran and Pakistan amidst regional developments.

According to Radio Pakistan, the telephonic conversation took place as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar extended his felicitations to Iran’s leadership and populace on the signing of the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” with the United States. He expressed optimism regarding the upcoming phase of negotiations, anticipating a smooth progression and productive results.

During the exchange, the Iranian Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for its mediation, noting the significance of the country’s involvement in facilitating diplomatic dialogues. The leaders also discussed regional concerns, particularly the ceasefire violations by Israel in Lebanon, and shared their serious apprehensions about the escalating situation.

In addition to diplomatic mediation, Seyed Abbas Araghchi acknowledged Pakistan’s assistance in the recent repatriation efforts of Iranian nationals. This included eight fishermen rescued at sea by the United Kingdom and twenty-two crew members detained by the United States, with Pakistan handling the transit arrangements.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of sustained engagement and agreed to maintain close communication to address ongoing and future regional issues.
