IG Punjab Orders Stricter Security for Eid Milad-un-Nabi

Lahore: A meeting convened by Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem at the Central Police Office focused on enhancing security measures for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations, crime control, and other critical issues. According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab emphasized the need for tighter security than last year, citing the current border situation. Over 55,000 police officers and personnel are set to be deployed for security and traffic management during the festivities.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem instructed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to devise comprehensive security plans, taking cues from last year’s protocols. Additional police presence will be stationed at sensitive sites, including processions and religious gatherings. The meeting also addressed crime control, with directives to sustain the decline in crime rates and expedite the repatriation of over 120,000 illegal foreign nationals, including Afghans.

Further directives were issued to tighten security for under-trial prisoners in police custody, with a warning of strict consequences for any escape incidents. The meeting also highlighted improved performances in recovering missing women, urging DPOs to form dedicated teams for ongoing efforts. Senior law enforcement officials participated in the meeting both in person and via video link.
