Barishal: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan hosted a well-attended education expo in Barishal, as part of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative. The event marked the second in a series of expos aimed at strengthening educational ties between the two countries, following an inaugural event in Dhaka.
According to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the expo featured participation from 20 prominent Pakistani universities offering insights into higher education opportunities, scholarship programs, and academic exchanges for Bangladeshi students and faculty. The series is set to continue with exhibitions in Rajshahi, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Rangpur.
The Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan in Bangladesh, Mr. Muhammad Wasif, attended as Chief Guest, emphasizing the importance of educational cooperation in fostering connections between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Other attendees included Deputy Commissioner Barishal Ms. Masooma Akhtar and Director General Scholarships HEC Pakistan Ms. Aayesha Ikram, who welcomed participants and introduced the participating university representatives.
Mr. Jahanzeb Khan, Project Director at HEC, expressed gratitude to attendees and the High Commission of Pakistan in Bangladesh for their support. He encouraged students to engage with university representatives to explore admissions and scholarship opportunities.
Under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative, Pakistan is offering 500 fully funded Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Bangladeshi students. The initiative has already seen the first batch of 74 students commence their studies in Pakistan, signaling a significant step in educational cooperation between the two nations.
