HEC Celebrates Independence Day, Pledges Support for Higher Education

Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan celebrated Independence Day by reaffirming its commitment to the advancement of higher education in Pakistan.

According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, a flag-hoisting ceremony was organized to mark the occasion, led by Chairman HEC Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar and Executive Director HEC Dr. Zia Ul Haq. The ceremony saw participation from senior and junior staff of the HEC, who gathered to commemorate the sacrifices of their ancestors and renew their dedication to the development of the nation’s higher education sector.

In his address, the Chairman HEC paid tribute to the leaders of the freedom movement, including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He emphasized that preserving freedom requires unity, hard work, resilience, and a national spirit. The Chairman reiterated HEC’s commitment to supporting higher education institutions, safeguarding students’ rights, and contributing to the country’s progress towards a knowledge-based economy.

The Chairman also highlighted the resources and vibrant youth population of Pakistan, noting the potential of the youth to harness these resources through knowledge and skills. “HEC will leave no stone unturned to strengthen the higher education institutions and empower the youth,” he stated.
