Gujranwala: A significant consignment of government medicines from the District Headquarters Hospital in Gujranwala was discovered in a private warehouse, prompting swift action from the Health Department. The department has suspended several officials under the PEEDA Act following the incident.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the suspended individuals include Dr. Shazia Afzal, the Additional Principal Women Medical Officer of Gujranwala Teaching Hospital, Pharmacist Nighat Saeed, Storekeeper Muhammad Asghar, and Ward Cleaner Daud Noor. These officials have been instructed to report to the Health Department immediately.
A fact-finding committee has been established to further investigate the matter. The committee includes the Director Monitoring as the convener, along with the Additional Secretary Technical, Deputy Secretary Technical, and a representative of the Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala. The committee is tasked with conducting a thorough investigation, and similar actions will be taken against any other responsible parties identified in the process.
