LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora expressed solidarity with victims and the Christian community on the third anniversary of the Jaranwala incident, emphasizing the ongoing impact of the tragedy. The Punjab government remains committed to protecting the rights and safety of religious minorities in the province, Arora stated.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the minister highlighted the commitment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s administration to prioritize minority protection, religious freedom, and interfaith harmony. Arora reiterated that the government would not tolerate any form of discrimination, violence, or injustice based on religion or belief.

Arora stressed the fundamental responsibility of the state to protect all citizens’ lives, properties, and dignity. He noted that the government has implemented measures to enhance the security of minority communities and uphold the rule of law. He affirmed that no individual or group would be allowed to infringe upon the rights of religious minorities.

The minister emphasized that Punjab aims to create an environment where all faiths can be practiced freely and safely. He lauded Chief Minister Sharif’s firm policy on minority rights, which includes initiatives to provide equal opportunities in welfare, education, employment, and development.

Reflecting on the Jaranwala tragedy, Arora highlighted the importance of strengthening tolerance, rule of law, and interfaith harmony. The Punjab government will continue efforts to prevent such incidents and ensure security and respect for all citizens, regardless of their faith.

Arora concluded by acknowledging the integral role of minority communities in Pakistan’s national fabric and their invaluable contributions to the country’s development and prosperity.
