Islamabad: Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gillani has emphasized the need for renewed commitment to building a strong and prosperous Pakistan, urging the nation to prioritize national interests over personal and political agendas. Addressing the Azadi Cultural Show at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Gillani highlighted the importance of unity and determination in overcoming the country’s challenges.

According to Radio Pakistan, Gillani underscored the historical significance of Independence Day, recalling the struggle led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for Pakistan’s creation. He paid homage to the sacrifices made by the nation’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies in maintaining sovereignty and security, reaffirming the nation’s solidarity with them.

Gillani called for peaceful relations with neighboring countries grounded in mutual respect and shared interests. He highlighted Pakistan’s role in mediating between the United States and Iran as a contribution to global peace. Furthermore, he praised the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, citing it as a strategic success that enhances Pakistan’s image and regional stability.

The Senate Chairman reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and advocating for an independent Palestinian state.
