Flag Hoisting at KMC Marks Independence Day Celebrations


Karachi: A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) central building to commemorate Independence Day. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab hoisted the national flag and extended greetings to the nation, particularly to Pakistanis worldwide. The event was attended by members of the City Council, elected representatives, and KMC officials and employees.



According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the significance of freedom, highlighting it as a blessing from Allah. He remarked that Independence Day serves as a reminder to remain loyal to the homeland and actively contribute to its development. The mayor urged that the spirit of patriotism should extend beyond August 14 and be a year-round commitment to the country’s progress and integrity.



Mayor Wahab also discussed the role of KMC in providing municipal services, underlining the need for efficiency and dedication among its staff. He mentioned ongoing initiatives aimed at addressing Karachi’s prevalent challenges through strategic planning. The mayor called for unity and sacrifice, drawing on the historical sacrifices made for Pakistan’s independence.



He further stressed the importance of national unity and citizen responsibility in nation-building, advocating for a peaceful and prosperous future for the country. The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for Pakistan’s security and progress, with Mayor Wahab reiterating his commitment to the nation’s advancement.
