Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal Tours New Emergency Operations Center at NDMA Headquarters


Islamabad, In an initiative to bolster disaster preparedness and management in Pakistan, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, made a significant visit to the newly established National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters today. This visit underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the country’s resilience to natural and man-made disasters through advanced technological solutions and proactive planning.



According to National Disaster Management Authority, the minister received a comprehensive briefing on the NEOC’s advanced capabilities, designed to enhance Pakistan’s ability to manage and mitigate disasters effectively. The briefing covered the center’s capacity for hazard identification, vulnerability analysis, and the utilization of predictive modeling to foresee and respond to potential disasters efficiently.



Moreover, the Minister was introduced to the NDMA’s innovative mobile application, a key development aimed at providing the public with early warnings about impending disasters, thus facilitating timely and effective response measures.



Mr. Iqbal commended the NDMA’s forward-thinking approach, reflected in the establishment of the NEOC and its complementary technological tools, including the mobile application. These measures are pivotal in advancing Pakistan’s disaster management framework, ensuring a more prepared and resilient nation in the face of adversity.
