Embassy of Pakistan in Washington Celebrates National Day with Focus on Diplomacy and Partnership

WASHINGTON: The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C., marked Pakistan Day with a ceremony emphasizing the nation’s dedication to peace, progress, and global cooperation. The event was attended by over 300 individuals, including U.S. officials, diplomats, and members of the Pakistani-American community.

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh addressed the audience, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the principles of the Lahore Resolution. He highlighted the country’s resilience over the past seven decades, its contributions to global peacekeeping, and the potential of its youthful population and tech sector.

The Ambassador praised the Pakistani diaspora in the United States, calling them “permanent ambassadors” who strengthen the bilateral relationship. He encouraged Pakistani Americans to continue fostering connections and contributing positively in both nations.

Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, spoke on the enduring partnership between the U.S. and Pakistan, noting collaboration in security, economic growth, and cultural exchanges. He lauded Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and its role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

On the economic front, Meyer pointed to milestones such as U.S. soybean exports to Pakistan and the production of soccer balls for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He expressed eagerness for an upcoming minerals investment forum in Islamabad, underscoring the importance of trade and investment ties.

Meyer also acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in the U.S., describing them as a valuable link between the two nations. He concluded by emphasizing the continued potential for cooperation and growth in the bilateral relationship.
