Election Commission of Pakistan Sets Deadline for Political Parties’ Financial Statements

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced a deadline of August 29, 2024, for all political parties to submit their consolidated financial statements for the fiscal year 2023-2024. This requirement is part of the ECP’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in political financing, as mandated by the Elections Act, 2017.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, each party must provide a comprehensive statement on Form-D, detailing annual income, expenses, sources of funds, assets, and liabilities. The statements must be audited by a Chartered Accountant and include a certificate signed by an authorized party official affirming the accuracy of the financial information and compliance with the legal provisions that prohibit receiving funds from certain sources.

The submission process is strictly regulated, with forms available at no cost at the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad and provincial offices. The ECP emphasizes that submissions must be made in person by an authorized party representative and that documents sent via post, fax, or courier will not be accepted. This procedure is designed to minimize errors and ensure that all documents are verifiable and compliant with the stipulated regulations.

This annual submission process plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of political financing and provides the public with transparency regarding the financial practices of political parties.
